Welcome to the Department of Child Development (CHDV)

The Child Development Department offers students the opportunity to study physical, socio-emotional and cognitive growth and development from conception through adolescence. Our graduates pursue careers in day care and preschool teaching and administration, parent education, elementary school teaching, community college teaching, or work with a variety of counseling and community agencies which serve children and families.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to the budget reductions, new applications for Spring 2010 will only be accepted for Teaching Credential Programs. All other Graduate Programs will be accepting applications for Fall 2010. Applications for Fall 2010 are due November 30, 2009.

The College of Education Commencement will be Friday, December 18th at 5:30p.m., with student line up at 5:00p.m. You can sign up for commencement on the College of Education Website now.

Fall 2009

  • August 31: Instruction Begins
  • September 7: Labor Day, Campus Closed
  • September 14-28: Late Registration, requires Dept. Add Petition
  • September 28: Census Date
  • November 1: Graduation Petitions for FA 2010 are due to Admissions and Records
  • November 11: Veterans Day, Campus Closed
  • November 26: Thanksgiving, Campus Closed
  • November 30: Graduate Applications for Fall 2010 are due
  • December 11: Last day of instruction
  • December 12-18: Final Exams
  • December 18: College of Education Commencement
  • December 21-January 22: Winter Recess
  • January 25: Spring 2010 Instruction Begins
